The purpose of this group is to share knowledge and experiences about the application of sociological theory and methods in other settings than academia.
This group is for scholars interested in the hybrid field of everyday life studies.
I guess that the field of everyday life studies has spread well beyond the field of sociology. For many good reasons. With this group it is NOT my intention to launch an attempt to bring everyday life studies back into the confinement of sociology, but rather to promote the interdisciplinary approach to this field. In this approach sociology has much to offer.
Discussion about War, Peace, the Military in general, the Military System, Military Profession, Civil-Military Relations, Militarisation...
I'm particularly interested in Army Professionalisation and Voluntarisation around the world, but would love to discuss any topic.

In summary, I would like to create a virtual working group , that makes use of precisely-mediated communication (Internet and then in this case) to discuss, explore, study, re-interpret contemporary social phenomena, in light of new trends in mass and individual development and transmission ...of culture as a set of values, symbols, behaviors, gradually replaced by "mass media and left free to modify it yourself to move even hidden or poorly contextualized. Now, I wish to state that any person intervening or incentive to make its own thinking here is welcome and requested, in particular, I felt the need to open this virtual network of debate because I feel the need to actively inform and constantly brightly dissemination and discussion of sensitive social issues. 1 - As the mass media can no longer succeed in the future as it has done until now, that is only to convey false concepts and / or leaving in the background what are the values that underpin the social fabric, Abense antemponendo Culture in First 2 - Can art, like also broadcast as well as symbols, stimuli, emotions, thoughts, unable to unleash the massification that the market has given the course of human evolution ... ? can say it once again become and how should be pure by communication, free and Free life? that is enjoyed by everyone?! 3 - and this made the challenge .. serving today, if you want to rebuild a united and cohesive society, to recover the individual size .. now the individual is left alone to himself, it was thought too often, and over time to give prevalence to the size of mass, leaving not only the individual but also all its inner components gradually fell asleep .. with the result of loss of identity alive! My thought is that you should try to recover the infividuo not only when such words ridandolgi its essential, but ensure they take part in relating with each other and with the world around him .. altiri many issues that we will gradually provide the group!

A group open to exploring the many theories of sociocultural evolution. What are some contemporary valid, or invalid claims? Can a society, as a whole, evolve? Can a society adapt, not only physically, but conceptually?
Open to criticism and exploration of this fascinating subject. European sociologist, Habermas, is one of the foremost thinkers on societal evolution. Other thinkers from many disciplines (philosopher Ken Wilber, Robert Wright), or even classical theories are welcome for discussion.

A group for the discussion of the works of Walter Benjamin. Benjamin worked and wrote; on society, on the effects of technology, on literary theory and the role of literature in society, on method, on the culture of capitalism, urbanism and a wide range of other issues. This great breadth of interest has not been kind to Benjamin because everyone assume that he is important to fields other than their own.
